We've been featured. Twice.
Madrid digital newspaper AquiMadriZ has published two articles this month that put AREA Coworking in the spotlight — first with a dedicated profile of our space, and then again as the opening entry in their roundup of Madrid's best coworking spaces. It's a nice double-feature, and we wanted to share it.
The dedicated profile
The first piece, AREA Coworking Madrid: An independent space that redefines collaborative work and event organisation in the capital, takes a deep dive into what we do and why. AquiMadriZ describes AREA as a singular proposition in Madrid's coworking landscape — an environment built around creativity, collaboration and flexibility, strategically placed between Atocha and Legazpi, just a few minutes' walk from Delicias metro.
The article spends time on the things we care about most: our independence (we're not a chain or franchise), our daily presence in the space, and the community we've built over five years. Hugo and Jack get a mention as founders and day-to-day managers. So does Rufi, described as the authentic mascot of AREA. We won't argue.
It also covers our hot desks, fixed desks and private offices for teams of four to ten, our meeting rooms (bookable by members and non-members alike), our capacity for events of up to 100 people, and the design of the space itself — industrial aesthetic, an authentic jungle of plants, plenty of natural light. We're particularly happy with how the piece captures what makes us different: direct management, a community where members are active participants rather than just clients, and a programme of cultural and professional events that actually brings people together.
The Madrid coworking roundup
The second article, Coworking spaces in Madrid, is a curated guide to the city's standout spaces — and AREA opens the list, ahead of two excellent peers (The Shed in Salamanca and Coworking Social Madrid in the city centre). Being placed first in a selection like this matters, particularly in a city with as much coworking supply as Madrid.
The roundup highlights our flexibility, our community focus, the design balancing industrial style with plants and natural light, and the way Hugo and Jack run the space personally. It also mentions our events programming and the way we mix workspace, community and professional activity — one of the most recognisable features of AREA, in AquiMadriZ's words.
Why this matters
Independent coworking spaces in Madrid are increasingly rare. The market has consolidated around large chains and franchises, which tend to flatten the experience into something interchangeable. Coverage like this — from a local Madrid publication that actually visits the space and talks to the people running it — helps make the case that there's still room for spaces with character, in neighbourhoods like Delicias, run by the people who opened them.
